Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Panels convert daylight into electrical energy using solar cells. They work best on a southerly facing roof that is not shaded. Electricity provided by the panels can be used on-site and any excess not required can be sold to the grid. The Government’s Clean Energy Cash Back Scheme (Feed-in Tariff) will pay for all the electricity you generate and even more for any sold to the grid. This lasts for 25 years. Generating your own electricity will also reduce your carbon emissions.
At Griffiths we normally use Schüco PV panels connected to SMA inverters. Our engineers
have received specialist installation training at Schüco's training centre in Milton Keynes.
Domestic installations usually have between 5 and 18 panels that produce a pay-back on installation costs in between 8 and 12 years.
Installations on existing buildings are usually on-roof i.e over your existing roof finish. New buildings can either have on-roof or in-roof systems that are level with the roof finish.
A condition of receiving the Feed-in Tariff, is that the product and installer are both MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) approved. Both ourselves as installers and the panels we fit are approved and listed on the MCS website: www.microgenerationcertification.org . |
